Design Philosophy

I believe that Design is an international language. People can catch the point without having artistic background. I love drawing and painting when I was five years old. When I grew up, I like to create something new especially in 3-dimentional space and decorate my own room. I keep working on painting and designing since they are my favorite things in the world and I feel that design can express myself and release pressure.

To me, design is the technique to change and improve the world and to create a better future. The thing that inspire me to major in interior design is that I like to create useful stuffs and think much about the functions of a space. I believe becoming a interior designer, I will be given the ability to design the interior of spaces as well as small handy supplies. My goal is to become a professional interior designer who makes people live in a more comfortable and convenient environment. Also, I would like to design the interiors for my mom and it counts as part of my dreamed future.

A Room To Read

Ron Arad is the designer who I derived from for my projects through out the semester. His design philosophy and belief help me come up with my design. When I looking at his ceiling design for the Mediacite shopping mall, I came up with a lotus flower. I can clearly see a pattern formed by several refined petals. Therefore, I chose lotus flower as my object for studying and analyzing. I  focus on the shape and form of a of the petal, the interaction between the flower and the ripple and the characteristics of lotus flower. I finally drew a 2-D concept model after the object study. The petals in the 2-D model  end up becoming the idea of making several organic shapes and let them lie on a rounded base. The color placement on the 2-D model is inspired by my color project.

Resume

Resume is an important stuff since that's the first impression people have on you. Resume needs to include essential and necessary information that increase the opportunity of obtaining an internship or job. Experience is something hard for me to write because I never worked before. Fortunately, I am currently an art assistant in Taiwanese Student Association and I remembered the workshop I did in my first semester during ID101. I felt that the logo is a little bit too big that distracts people from information. In addition, I think it's better to have a larger size on my name.I like the background I created. It was inspired by the logo design and then I reduce the opacity since I don't want words to compete with the background. I originally placed those sketches in a normal and dull arrange but I felt that they can be more than that. I thought the placement I finally had is really  lively and they have something to with the background.

Logo Design

I began to create some thumbnails and try to figure out which fit my design philosophy the most. I really find the one with rabbit ears interesting and lively. I also like to play with the overlapping of my initials. I found that Wacom Tablet is really an useful and helpful tool to create digital file thought I still need some practice to improve my skills.
I then decided to add some color in my initials logo as I felt that colorful logo represents my personality very well. I try several types of method to create different effect. I thought the one which incorporates puzzles is really cute and thoughtful. However, the one with colorful patterns in the back really caught my attention. I felt that design is something that enriches our lives and something that improve the quality of our life. Colorful pattern seems to bring an abundant world and create lots of smiles. Since I love to incorporate rainbow in many of my designs and colorful pattern represents my design philosophy, I decided to use the idea to create my final logo.

Finally, I created the final logo and felt really satisfied with it. I put the pink on the back of  the C on purpose because pink is my favorite color and it's the color that I feel in love with since I was a little girl, I like the ragged edge of different colorful patterns. I think the black initials work in the logo.

I was surprised to see that there is many different shades and tints in the logo. Originally, I thought it will be something flat and boring and all of the colors I chose are really bold.
